Don’t let a drama become a crisis
It was a cold Thursday in Southport. Mary was on her way to the hall to turn up the thermostat for the central heating, when she tripped on that piece of carpet that she knew should have been taped down. Now she’s lying on the floor; sore, bruised and unable to get up because of what might be a broken ankle. Her family are away on holiday and nobody is scheduled to call until Friday morning. The house is cold and there is no food or water within reach.
It sounds like a nightmare; but it is the type of real life drama which our personal alarm partners deal with every day. In this scenario Mary could have died or at the very least suffered from hypothermia and dehydration before being found. How different it would have been if Mary had bought a personal alarm. Just a touch of the button on the pendant would have summoned immediate help. Emergency calls generated by pressing the alarm button are answered 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and help dispatched to make sure that a drama doesn’t become a crisis.
If you live on your own then you really should consider getting a personal alarm; it can be a lifesaver and it definitely provides you with peace of mind and reassurance that if you have a fall, become ill or just need help for any reason that it can be summoned quickly and without fuss.
Here are some of the questions we frequently get about personal alarms.
Will my pendant work outside?
Your pendant range outside of your property will vary depending on the size of your property and the location of your alarm equipment. Once installed we recommend that you test it thoroughly, to identify the areas in which your alarm will work.
What if I accidentally press the button and activate my alarm?
Don’t worry if you accidentally press the alarm button. The alarm response team never worry about receiving a false alarm. The operator will just confirm that you are ok, and take the opportunity to ensure the system is working properly. If your alarm is accidentally activated please ensure you hang on and speak to the operator. If you don’t we must treat the call as an emergency.
As part of the personal alarm service how quickly will the phone be answered?
Over 99% of calls are answered within 60 seconds however the majority of calls are answered in less than 30 seconds.
Can I wear the pendant in the shower or bath?
Yes you can, it is waterproof and it is important that it is available in case a fall in the bath or shower occurs.
Could my Personal Alarm/Mobile Alarm affect my pacemaker?
Your personal alarm will not affect your pacemaker.
Can the Personal Alarm be used by people with hearing impairments?
Yes it can, but the alarm monitoring service would need to be aware that the user has a hearing impairment upon activation of the service.
