New Year, New You
We understand that most readers on an Age Concern column will be retired. But many of you will have children and grandchildren of working age. We would encourage you to show them this article if they are thinking about how they can find a more rewarding job.
Most of us have to work to earn the money to support ourselves and our family; but over half of us don’t like our jobs!
Research, conducted by CV Library in 2018, revealed that 55.6 per cent of British employees are dissatisfied with their current roles. Some of the reasons given included bad company culture, poor work-life balance, a boring daily routine, working hours not suiting their lifestyle, disliking the boss and colleagues and a long commute.
Don’t despair, we may have the perfect job for you. Being a Homecare worker with Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton is fantastically rewarding. No two days are ever the same because your whole job centres around working with people who need your help and support. Can you imagine the job satisfaction gained from making a real difference to someone’s life?
And the job is so flexible. The hours are negotiable and can fit around child care obligations. You can decide how many hours you wish to work and which area (though obviously the more flexibility there is, the easier it is to give you the work you want). We provide a free uniform, we pay for your DBS (police criminal record check) and we pay wages fortnightly, so no long wait for the monthly salary.
It’s a great place to work, but just don’t take our word for it. The Investors in People Framework is based on 25 years of leading practice, the latest research and workplace trends. For the 4th time we have been awarded the Investors in People accreditation and these are some comments from the Inspector’s report.
“Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton has a culture which is friendly, helpful and supportive and the people who work for them are very loyal and committed to the organisation”.
“People described a ‘family’ culture where staff work collaboratively for the benefit of the team, their customers and the community”.
“People feel trusted and empowered to do their jobs and can ask for support if required”.
“People unanimously commented on Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton as being a
‘great place to work’ referring to the environment as being hardworking but friendly,
supportive and flexible.
“All staff confirmed that their learning and development is very well supported in order to achieve their full potential”.
If you have a caring attitude combined with common sense and a willingness to work hard to make life better for vulnerable people then we want to hear from you.
