No need to be alone
Liverpool older people who are 60 and over and still in good health, this message is for you from Richard Globe:
“As a 73 year old male living on my own I both fortunately and thankfully have a very active and busy social life, which I strongly believe other pensioners should also have, with some self-determination and a little bit of effort. As the old but true saying goes, no one is going to knock on the door at any time and say ‘please will you come outside and let’s play together’. Unfortunately loneliness is a fact of life for many people in their advancing years. So, what are the social activities that I am currently involved with on a weekly basis, where a really lonely pensioner eager to make a new circle of friends can come along and enjoy themselves in a warm and friendly atmosphere?
Every Thursday from 1pm there is a pensioners’ event with a £1 entrance fee with food provided at the Old Swan Conservative Club, 73 Derby Lane, Stoneycroft.
Once a fortnight on a Wednesday at the same venue there is another pensioners’ event, again with food provided but including a live singing act at a cost of £1.
For more adventurous and active people, there is Rock and Roll at the Old Swan Conservative Club, with live bands and a £2 entrance charge, held every Thursday night from 8pm.
If you are interested you can contact 0151 734 2347 for more details or Old Swan Pensioners Club – 0151 280 5243″
